Job Summary
The CNC Tool Room Lead is a hands-on leader and experienced Tool Maker responsible for managing tool room operations in a CNC manufacturing environment. This role oversees tooling and fixture design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair while leading a team that supports production, quality, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has deep CNC machining knowledge, strong tooling design skills, and the ability to lead from the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of CNC tooling, fixtures, gauges, and precision equipment
- Collaborate with CNC operators, engineers, and customers to develop and improve tooling solutions
- Plan, prioritize, and manage tool room projects to meet production schedules
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for tooling and machining challenges
- Utilize CAD/CAM software to design and modify tooling as needed
- Lead, train, and develop Tool Room Machinists and Technicians
- Ensure tooling meets quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements
- Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and process efficiency
- Manage tool room budget, materials, tooling, and outside services
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a Tool Maker in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Strong background in CNC machining operations and tool room practices
- Experience with tooling and fixture design; CAD/CAM proficiency preferred
- Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety and quality standards
- Proficiency in MS Office and manufacturing software systems
Work Environment & Schedule
- Office and manufacturing floor environment; exposure to noise and moving equipment
- Ability to lift and handle heavy tooling
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Friday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Overtime as needed
