Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Lathe Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for full machine setup, program adjustments, process optimization, and ensuring production of high-quality precision components.
The ideal candidate brings extensive CNC lathe experience, strong troubleshooting ability, blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting team performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complete CNC lathe setups including fixtures, tooling, offsets, and program verification
  • Edit, load, and optimize CNC programs (M & G code proficiency required)
  • Adjust tool offsets, tool compensation, and make real-time process corrections
  • Change tooling (inserts, taps, drills, face mills, boring bars) and monitor tool life
  • Conduct first-piece inspections and obtain Quality approval prior to production runs
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications to ensure part compliance
  • Identify and correct machining issues including tool wear, chatter, dimensional variation, and surface finish concerns
  • Operate machines using full control functions (cycle start, feed hold, reset, coolant, program diagnostics)
  • Perform in-process inspections per Process Data Records (PDR) and document results accurately
  • Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate with Maintenance when needed
  • Maintain chip control, coolant levels, and overall machine cleanliness
  • Train and support less-experienced operators as needed
  • Promote and enforce all safety and quality standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years CNC machining experience (CNC Lathe experience required)
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of M & G code
  • Experience with full machine setups and multi-operation jobs
  • Ability to pick up and adjust offsets using edge finders and indicators
  • Proficient in editing and optimizing CNC programs
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver heavier parts using a hoist
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (noise, vibration, airborne particles)
